International Giving

Many people are interested in supporting humanitarian efforts internationally.  Often, relatively small gifts can have a major impact, whether those gifts provide children with immunization against polio or malaria or are used to purchase an animal that can produce milk for a family.  The most effective and reliable way to give for global causes is do so is through international organizations that have a presence in the countries to which the donors wish to direct their gifts.  This is particularly true for disaster relief.

Donors are advised to do the same checking for international relief organizations as they do for local, regional, and national non-profits.  Charity Navigator, the Better Business Bureau, and the American Institute of Philanthropy all provide ratings for international relief organizations.  Donors are also encouraged to contact these international non-profit organizations directly or to visit their websites to learn more about their programs.

The list below is not all-inclusive and is intended to be a sampling of the non-profit organizations that provide assistance to those in need outside the U.S.
